Kelley Bernal, Senior Vice President within Alliant’s SIU division, has been honored as one of 2018’s Women to Watch by Business Insurance. A proven underwriter and earthquake insurance expert, Bernal was honored on the strength of her visionary leadership both as the Director of SIU and among young and emerging insurance professionals.

Bernal oversees a 17-member team at SIU that provides difference in conditions (DIC) and earthquake solutions to wholesale brokers nationwide while managing her own large book of business. Since joining the team this year, Bernal has already made a significant impact on the business via an increase in new business, improved renewal retention, and an uptick in the team’s hit ratio.
Over a rewarding 17-year career in underwriting, Bernal has emerged as one of California’s most informed and innovative earthquake insurance experts, with strong ties to the wholesale brokerage and carrier communities.
Bernal has also made a significant impact on the next generation of insurance leaders as a founding member of Emerging Insurance Professionals, an organization that brings together professionals with less than 10 years of industry experience for networking and career advancement. Additionally, she is a current advisor to the Latina Global Executive Leadership Program hosted by the USC Marshall School of Business, a program that prepares Latina professionals to become leaders of organizations and to embark on paths of personal leadership development.
