Aspen Insurance – the insurance segment of Bermudian carrier Aspen – has promoted Chris Carlson to the position of executive vice president, head of US property.
Carlson succeeds Cliff Hope who moved to AIG’s excess and surplus lines (E&S) platform Lexington in November.
In his new role, Carlson will be based in Atlanta, Georgia, and report to Tim Kania, global head of energy & construction and US property.
He joined Aspen Insurance in 2016 and was most recently senior vice president, onshore energy & construction manager in Houston, Texas.
Before moving to Aspen Insurance, Carlson was with Liberty International Underwriters for seven years and prior to that, he was a global property underwriter with Zurich North America.
Commenting on the appointment, Kania said: “Chris brings a wealth of global property experience and a proven track record of portfolio management to this role.
“His appointment is testament to the considerable internal talent and strength-in-depth that we have within Aspen Insurance.”
