The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has sold out the room for its 15th Anniversary IICF Northeast Division Annual Benefit Event to support the insurance industry’s philanthropic work in the New York tri-state region through community grants. The IICF is excited to host this annual charitable gala and dinner, which was held virtually last year in accordance with pandemic protocols, and will return to an in-person event on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. EDT at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.
During the event, the IICF will present CNA Insurance with its prestigious “Double I” award. The “Double I” Award, which recognizes Influence in the Industry and Impact in the Community, is given annually to a prominent insurance organization that has shown inspiring philanthropic leadership and support of local communities. CNA’s Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer, Doug Worman, will accept the honor on behalf of the company and its employees.
“Despite an unprecedented pandemic, the insurance industry has been unwavering in its support of those in need. We join our colleagues in celebrating that spirit of giving,” said Doug Worman. “I speak for all of our CNA colleagues when I say that we are proud to be honored, not only for our business excellence but for our commitment to giving back to our communities.”
This year’s event will once again feature a celebrity speaker in the form of CC Sabathia. Sabathia is best known for his 19 seasons as a pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB), mostly with the New York Yankees, and for winning the World Series with the team in 2009. He and his wife, Amber Sabathia, also founded the PitCCh In Foundation, which works to improve the lives of inner-city children by boosting their self-esteem through athletic and educational activities. Other notable insurance executives will be on the podium as well, including John Doyle, President and CEO of Marsh, who will present this year’s award to Doug Worman and CNA. J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Gallagher, will also accept the virtual “Double I” award in person.
The annual IICF Northeast Benefit Event raises funds for local nonprofits that support education, people in need, and the environment. Since 2007, the Northeast Division of the IICF has awarded over $10.7 million in grants to nonprofits and charities in the region.
