IICF holds future of work reform

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), a unique nonprofit organization dedicated to helping communities and enriching lives, will be hosting its 16th Annual Northeast Benefit, a charitable gala and dinner that supports nonprofits from the New York tri-state region, on Nov. 30 at 6:00 p.m. at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The 2022 IICF Northeast Benefit, an annual holiday tradition in the New York insurance community, convenes global insurance leaders and representatives of nonprofit grantees in celebration of the philanthropic achievements of the industry, and raises critical funding for individuals and families in need throughout the region.

During the event, IICF will honor Marsh and all their employees with its prestigious “Double I” award. The “Double I” Award, recognizing Influence in the industry and Impact in the community, is presented annually to a prominent insurance organization that has demonstrated inspiring philanthropic leadership and support of local communities. Pat Donnelly, President of Marsh U.S. and Canada, will accept the award on behalf of Marsh and employees.

“IICF is proud to honor Marsh with this year’s “Double I” award for their dedication to addressing our communities’ critical needs,” said Jim Romanelli, Senior Vice President, New York City Branch Manager, CNA, and Chair of the IICF Northeast Division Board of Directors. “As we continue to navigate challenges following the pandemic, severe weather events and more, organizations with a generous and comprehensive commitment to giving like Marsh lead our industry as we rally together to support individuals and families throughout the Northeast.”

This year’s benefit dinner will also feature celebrity guest Pete Alonso, First Baseman for the New York Mets. Alonso is a two-time MLB all-star, the 2019 National League Rookie of the Year, a former single season home run leader, a two-time home run derby champion and holds the record for most home runs by a rookie. Alonso is also the founder of the Alonso Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing critical needs in our region, including supporting youth, animal welfare and veterans through advocacy, grant-making and programming.

In addition, other notable insurance executives on the podium will include 2022 Dinner Chair Neeti Bhalla Johnson, President, Global Risk Solutions, Liberty Mutual Insurance. Johnson will be presenting the “Double I” award to Marsh’s Donnelly.

“We are excited to convene the industry once again to celebrate our outstanding collective philanthropic work over the past year,” said Elizabeth Myatt, Vice President, Chief Program Officer and Executive Director of the IICF Northeast Division. “The Northeast Benefit is an opportunity to commemorate our industry’s deep commitment to giving back and supporting communities in need while continuing to raise funds for nonprofits benefiting major causes and issues in the region. IICF is honored to once again be able to sustain our industry’s spirit and resolve for giving.”

Proceeds from the annual IICF Northeast Benefit fund local nonprofits supporting education, people in need and the environment. IICF’s Northeast Division has awarded nearly $11 million in grants since its founding in 2007 to nonprofits and charities in the Northeast. This year proceeds from the annual IICF Northeast Benefit will support meaningful grants to the following organizations: 180 Turning Lives Around, Alonso Foundation, East Side House, Freedom House, Harlem Educational Activities Fund, Horizons at Sacred Heart University, Mount Kisco Child Care Center, National Alliance on Mental Illness, New York City Metro, Our Military Kids, Table to Table, and Under 21/Covenant House New York.
