Markel International and Associated Electric and Gas Insurance Services (AEGIS) have formed a partnership to provide additional reinsurance capacity for onshore renewable energy projects.
Markel International will provide up to $75 million in capacity behind AEGIS for its policyholders’ renewable risks under the terms of the agreement.
Markel’s reinsurance support will also enable AEGIS to offer more than $400 million USD in capacity on renewable policies.
“We are delighted to work with a company of AEGIS’ reputation and standing, and to have the opportunity to work closely with their highly experienced renewable energy team,” said Tom Baker, head of renewable energy at Markel International.
This is not Markel’s first move in the renewables space in recent months. In November, it announced the addition of three new members to its renewable energy team: Charlie Richardson, Sarah McCarthy, and Yong Ruay Heah.
