Michael E. Angelina, ACAS, MAAA, CERA, is the executive director for the Saint Joseph’s University Academy of Risk Management & Insurance. Prior to assuming his role at Saint Joseph’s, Angelina had more than 25 years of professional experience in the property/casualty insurance industry as a practicing actuary. Among his positions, he served as chief risk officer of Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. and as a principal and head of the Philadelphia office of the consulting actuarial firm Towers Watson (then Tillinghast Towers Perrin). Created by James Maguire ’58, founder of Philadelphia Insurance Company, the mission of the Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management is to promote and support the concept of risk management and insurance education; to provide services to risk management and insurance students, including scholarship aid, recruiting, internships/cooperative education, counseling and placement; and, with and through the University, to support the Department of Finance, which houses the risk management and insurance program.

CPCU Annual Meeting- October 2018—Mike Angelina Presented a Session on The Impact of Climate Change: Measuring Uncertainty” – Michael Angelina, ACAS, MAAA, CERA, Saint Joseph’s University, discussed how climate change is shaking up traditional risk management methods, and how to best take advantage of tools such as the Actuaries Climate Index for quantifying climate change hazards.
