Zurich Insurance Group has created a new unit to meet growing demand from businesses for risk prevention and mitigation services that enable them to manage evolving risks more effectively, and as a result, help them improve their risk profile.
The global business unit, Zurich Resilience Solutions, will provide services that enhance the overall resilience of a customer’s business and complement traditional insurance products. Its offering combines risk advisory services and insights with the latest technology and tools, leveraging data and analytics as well as third-party collaborations.
Businesses today face risks that are increasingly interconnected and complex, and managing these risks is complicated by a lack of relevant and reliable data, tools and insights. Zurich Resilience Solutions draws on Zurich’s expertise and insight, gathered over nearly 150 years, and its profound understanding of customers’ individual and evolving needs.
“Our people, and in particular our more than 750 risk engineers, work with customers day in, day out, and have intimate knowledge of how they operate their businesses,” said Hanno Mijer, newly appointed Global Head of Zurich Resilience Solutions. “At the same time, our global reach and the breadth and depth of our expertise in risk management enable us to help protect our customers so they can focus on successfully developing their businesses. With Zurich Resilience Solutions, we want to leverage that wealth of experience, along with insights from rich pools of data and digital capabilities, for the benefit of our customers.”
Hanno Mijer has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and brings to the role his extensive knowledge and skill in growing businesses and expanding their offerings, as well his international consultancy experience. During his career, he has held various leadership positions in Continental Europe, the UK and Australia. Mr. Mijer joined Zurich in 2007 and most recently served as CEO of Zurich’s Cover-More Group. Mr. Mijer reports to Sierra Signorelli, CEO Commercial Insurance, and is based in Zurich.
The Group has already launched a range of services, including Climate Change Resilience Services, Zurich Cyber Security Services and Supply Chain Risk Management Services and will continue to focus on building new capabilities. Zurich will further invest in expertise, as well as proprietary services and external collaborations to provide customers with differentiated solutions and tools to help mitigate current and future risks.
